چکیده

The emergence of bacteria resistant to conventional antibiotics and the inability these treat bacterial biofilm-induced infections cause millions deaths every year. This situation has prompted scientists develop alternative strategies combat infectious diseases. Among these, researches on phytochemicals reduce virulence in Pseudomonas aeruginosa have gained momentum recent years. main reasons behind this are production factors biofilm formation, all which under control quorum sensing (QS) system. Hence, inhibition QS pathways is an eligible strategy for microbial pathogenesis. For first time present study, methanolic seed extract avocado was evaluated its anti-QS activity against P. PAO1. results experiments carried out proved that inhibitory regulation formation. Phytochemical analysis resulted identification epicatechin, catechin, chlorogenic acid, caffeic quercetin, kaempferol, vanillin, ferulic acid extract. Then, mechanism action investigated through molecular docking. Docking outcomes demonstrated major components, could bind receptors competitively. mode might be QS. Considering computational literature, it thought prepared from seeds may related synergistic effect contains.

Repurposing metformin as a quorum sensing inhibitor in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

BACKGROUND Quorum sensing is a mechanism of intercellular communication that controls the production of virulence factors in Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Inhibition of quorum sensing can disarm the virulence factors without exerting stress on bacterial growth that leads to emergence of antibiotic resistance. OBJECTIVES Finding a new quorum sensing inhibitor and determining its inhibitory activitie...

Quorum sensing regulates denitrification in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1.

Anaerobic growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 was affected by quorum sensing. Deletion of genes that produce N-acyl-l-homoserine lactone signals resulted in an increase in denitrification activity, which was repressed by exogenous signal molecules. The effect of the las quorum-sensing system was dependent on the rhl quorum-sensing system in regulating denitrification.

Piper betle leaf extract affects the quorum sensing and hence virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1

Quorum sensing (QS) plays an important role in virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, blocking of QS ability are viewed as viable antimicrobial chemotherapy and which may prove to be a safe anti-virulent drug. Bioactive components from Piper betle have been reported to possess antimicrobial ability. This study envisages on the anti-QS properties of ethanolic extract of P. betle leaf (PbLE) using ...

Bacteria that inhibit quorum sensing decrease biofilm formation and virulence in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1.

In this study, we investigated the biotherapeutic potential of previously isolated quorum quenching (QQ) bacteria. Some of them produce and secrete small compounds that inhibit quorum sensing (QS), others quench QS by enzymatic degradation of N-acylhomoserine lactones (AHLs). The supernatant of cultures of these isolates was tested for inhibitory properties against P. aeruginosa PAO1 biofilms. ...

Food as a source for quorum sensing inhibitors: iberin from horseradish revealed as a quorum sensing inhibitor of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Foods with health-promoting effects beyond nutritional values have been gaining increasing research focus in recent years, although not much has been published on this subject in relation to bacterial infections. With respect to treatment, a novel antimicrobial strategy, which is expected to transcend problems with selective pressures for antibiotic resistance, is to interrupt bacterial communi...
